Day 3

11:30- Sachin went to his work area and put on his work wear. He still needed assistance in putting on his gloves. Together, we made a hexagram by gluing 2 triangles that were made earlier, together. He struggled with the next one on his own and I didn't interfere as I wanted to see if he could figure it out. He had trouble aligning the second triangle with the first.
I knew that it was too early for him to be able to do this, but nevertheless, I let him explore the activity. He tried to glue the triangles on top of each other and i said "NO" to indicate to him that it was wrong. I encouraged him to continue and showed him the previous example again. He kept looking for my help every few minutes and I helped now and then with gestures.
It was struggle, but he was still interested. I allowed him to get up and move around a bit. He then continued and with a lot of help we eventually made 7 hexagrams.

1:00pm- Tea break

1:25pm- I used a pencil to mark the region to glue on triangle 1 using the alignment of the second triangle. Then I showed him where to put the glue and let him stick the pieces together. With the next one, I assisted him while he marked the gluing areas and I also helped him put on the glue and stick them together.
I kept allowing him time to explore whilst encouraging him to remain on task. he kept glancing towards me for help. We made another 6 hexagrams.
Pack up and clean up.

2:25pm- Tea break

2:45pm- Ipad session- He went to his work bench in his school uniform again. He used the Everyday Jigsaw app again, but this time with 90 puzzle pieces. He seemed to enjoy the challenge.

4:15pm- End of day. I took him for a walk out in the park.

Feedback
The task today was a bit too challenging for Sachin at this stage, but I let him struggle in order to see how he responded. I believe that we are on the right track with Sachin, but

12:00pm – I took Sachin to the work area. Gave him his work wear and a pair of disposable gloves. He can't put the gloves on by himself at this stage, he needs assistance in putting them on properly. I gave him the materials and he started on his own.
He continued to do his work. Once he completed a triangle, he handed it to me to put n another table for drying.  He made the first few at a good pace, but slowed down as time went on. He started getting bored after about an hour and needed some encouragement to continue.
Overall, he made 18 triangles in 90 mins.

1:35pm – Tea break – He took of his work wear and washed his hands. Went inside the house to have a cup of tea and snacks.

2:00pm – I took Sachin back to his work area and he continued working with the sticks and glue. He continued this on his own.
He made another 7 triangles in 60mins. We had a minor disruption by the wind which blew away the paper that sat the glued sticks. He was a little annoyed but settled down and helped collect the stuff. We then spent more time organising all the glued sticks and putting them away.

It was finally time to pack up and clean up. He cleaned and wiped his work bench, took off his work wear and then washed his hands.

3:30pm – Tea break.

3:45pm – Ipad session – He went to his work bench, but he didn’t put on his work wear again (just his school uniform). He used the IPAD app (Everyday Jigsaw).

4:45pm – End of day. I took him for a walk out on the street.

Feedback

We may need to increase the variety of work he does weekly or may need him to understand that his work is purposeful.

12:15pm – Took Sachin to the work area. Gave him his Workwear and a pair of disposable gloves. Once he was ready, I had him open a pack of paddle pop sticks and hobby craft glue. Then I demonstrated an example of making a triangle by gluing 3 paddle pop sticks. He followed the example and one on his own. He seemed interested and was excited about this change (post school). He continued his work for 90 minutes and made 19 triangles. He needed some assistance and prompting to stay on task. He worked at a leisurely pace.

Feedback

Very good effort for his first time. He was keen to do this activity. He needs a lot of work in aligning the pieces and using an appropriate amount of glue.

1:45pm – Tea break – Took of his work wear and washed his hands. Went inside the house to have a cup of tea and snacks.

2:05pm – Took Sachin back to his work area. He put on his workwear and continued working with the sticks and glue. He continued on his own. I interrupted him to show him how to use the appropriate amount of glue. He was more cautious with the glue and hence worked more slowly now. He made another 11 triangles in 70mins. He had his mini breaks in between which i allowed.

3:15pm – Pack up and Clean up. I assisted him to move the glued pieces to a table to dry. He packed up the unused sticks and glue in a box. He cleaned and wiped his work bench. Took off his workwear and then washed his hands.

3:30pm – Tea break.

3:45pm – Ipad session – He went to his work bench but this time he didn’t put on workwear (just his school uniform). I introduced an IPAD app (Everyday Jigsaw) to him and he worked on it for an hour. He was deeply engaged.

4:45pm – end of day. No exercise (going for a walk) due to the weather.
