Today was very hot so I had Sachin work indoors. He continued on building a submarine using Legos. He continually went outside, possibly because of his routine.
Eventually he settled down and worked.
It was too hot for a walk today, so Sachin watered the garden instead.

Day 14

Sachin did some gardening in the morning. Since it was hot today, I decided take Sachin to Plumpton mall for a Chai Latte.
He loves going out for Chai Latte.
Afterwards, we did some window shopping. I also bought him a piece of chicken for lunch.
On the way back, he had a seizure in the car. It could have been due to the heat as the car AC takes a while to be effective. He was also very excited today and that could also have been a factor.
When we got home, I had to wait for while before I could get him out of the car. Then he slept for about an hour and half.
We didn’t go for a walk today, but in the evening Sachin watered the garden.

Sachin started building a submarine using Legos. He was very keen. I believe that such tasks are helping in his development in more ways than just the obvious.
After a break, we went to visit Sachin’s grandparents.
When we returned, I gave Jenga blocks to Sachin to play with. He seemed more interested in working on his puzzle and so he did. In the evening we went for our usual walk and when we returned, Sachin watered the garden.

Sachin woke up late today and when he did I took him to Plumpton mall where he had his breakfast. We did groceries shopping after that.
When we returned, Sachin continued working on his puzzle.
Later, we went for our usual walk. We stopped and chatted with an elderly lady in the neighbourhood who is often busy in her garden when we go pass her place. We have chatted with her before and so she knows about Sachin. When we returned, Sachin watered the garden.

Day 8: Legos

Today Sachin used Legos to build a boat. He used the illustration booklet and a bit of my help to build the boat. It was a 213 piece project. I laid out pieces required for each page module and then showed him. Most of the time, he connected the pieces correctly. After a while, he would look at the illustration and connect the pieces without any help, except he still required me to lay out the pieces. Every now and then, he needed to be corrected. Sometimes, he studied the illustration seriously, like an engineer studying a blueprint, before making his next move. He was extremely pleased when finished the project.
The purpose of this task was to help Sachin develop a concept of constructing things using illustrations. I was pleasantly surprised with Sachin’s performance today. Few things to note:
  • he was not reading a book even if it was pictorial;
  • he used illustrations to construct something;
  • sometimes he would correct his error without any help;
  • he studied the illustrations to figure out his next step when he was stuck;
  • above all, he very engrossed in the task and seemed to enjoy it immensely.
We went for our usual walk in the evening and when we returned, Sachin watered the garden.

Feedback

Today was perhaps the best day since we started Sachin’s programme. Once again he has raised the bar.
