Sachin woke at 11 this morning. His Fitbit report showed that he had 5 hours and 20 minutes sleep. I gave him his medication and then put him to bed. He did not fall asleep and after 2 hours, I gave up. I was and still am worried that he may have a seizure today.
After he had his breakfast, he started building an aeroplane using Legos. He needed help to get started and also wanted me to search the pieces for him. After a while, he got up and went to bed. He did not fall asleep. He got out of bed after about an hour and then used his Ipad. We did not go for a walk today as a precautionary measure. Later in the evening, he watered the garden.

After breakfast, Sachin did some gardening. He still needs to be directed when pulling out weeds. Then we went to Plumpton marketplace for shopping. We first had our chai latte and coffee and then did our shopping. When we returned, Sachin carried on with his puzzle. He also watered the garden in the evening.
Sachin seemed fresh this morning. He started his day building a coffee table. He had previously assembled it but I unassembled afterwards for his practice. When it started raining, we went inside where Sachin used his Ipad.
Sachin woke up at 2:45pm today. He was in bed for 14 hours and 7 hours and 12 minutes of quality sleep and the rest in restless mode. After breakfast, he started working on his puzzle even before I had a chance to take him outside. He seemed to have recovered well after the last 2 seizures he had.
Later, I took him shopping to Plumpton. He also had dinner there. Sachin woke up around 11am this morning. His Fitbit sleep report showed that he only slept for 4 hours and 11 minutes. I gave him his medication and put him back in bed but he didn’t fall asleep. After 2 hours, I let him get out of bed. After breakfast, he worked on his puzzle with lots of breaks. I wanted him to have an easy day considering that he had a seizure yesterday and indications were that he may have one today. So I had to be more attentive than usual.
As expected, he had a 30 seconds seizure just after dinner. It happened at 6:45pm. His heart rate peaked at 140 BPM during his seizure and stayed around 100 for another hour. Sachin woke up earlier today and had a seizure in the evening. Now his activities today included building with legos, going for coffee and doing his puzzle. Today, I want to explore and analyse some of the factors that may have caused his seizure. It could provide useful information for someone else caring for Sachin or for other similar cases. When Sachin woke up today, I checked the Fitbit report about his sleep details for last night. The report stated that he fell asleep at 3:18am and woke 11:05am but had many restless periods including being awake for few minutes around 8 am and thus concluding that he had 3 hours and 54 minutes of quality sleep. We had actually put him to bed at 9:30pm and he got out of the bed at 12:05pm. Furthermore, based on his heart rate (beats per minute BPM) report for last night, which averaged around 51 to 53 BPM while he slept or at least while he was in bed, I thought he had had enough sleep. Normally, while in bed, his heart rate averages around 58 to 60 BPM and has more fluctuations. As stated by Mayo clinic, A normal resting heart rate for adults ranges from 60 to 100 beats a minute. Generally, a lower heart rate at rest implies more efficient heart function and better cardiovascular fitness. Stress, excitement, exercise, anxiety and other such episodes increases your heart rate and in Sachin’s case, it may cause seizures. During Sachin's seizure, his heart rate had jumped to 129 BPM and after his seizure it hovered around a 100 for a further 45 minutes even though he was lying down. Now 3 hours later, it is 69 BPM while in sitting position. Unfortunately today, I misjudged the situation and even though I was careful not to push him, he still had a seizure. Sachin’s mum had also accompanied us for the coffee shop trip, which has not always been the case in the recent past and so may have caused some excitement in him and consequently a seizure. Another possibility is that we did not buy anything for him to eat with his cup of chai latte, unlike his last visit.
Generally, I have basic plans for Sachin’s daily activities, however, I do frequently adapt to suit conditions such as, his sleeping pattern, mood and any unusual behaviour, including seizures. Weather conditions also affect the planned activities. Feedback Sachin had a 30 seconds seizure at 6:05 pm. Sachin woke up late today as he didn’t sleep well last night. So I was a bit cautious in terms of not stressing or straining him. He started making coasters and almost completed one. After a break, we played snakes and ladders. Then I took him for drive.
When we returned, Sachin continued with the puzzle. Sachin didn’t sleep well last night. When he woke up around 9 am, I forced him to go back to bed. He did fall asleep. He woke up again around 1pm. After his breakfast he just worked on his puzzle. I felt that he shouldn’t be stressed today.
In the evening, we strolled under the pergola for 10minutes. Then he watered the garden. Sachin covered 1.58km by 6:30pm today. After Sachin had his breakfast, I took him to the movies at Westfield, Mt Druitt. While waiting for the movie, we had chai latte and then did some window shopping , mainly for Sachin’s exercise. In the last 6 hours, Sachin has done 2500 steps and 1.77 km.
When we entered the cinema (3:35pm), Sachin’s heart rate went up 85. During the movie, it ranged between 68 to 74. We watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This was the first time when Sachin seemed to watch the movie for its duration. He seemed to be enjoying himself especially with popcorn and coke zero. I guess the movie force has been awakened in him. When we came out of the cinema (6pm), Sachin’s heart rate again reached 85. I think Sachin enjoyed today. It’s 7pm now and he is working on his puzzle. Sachin woke up late today. The fitbit sleep report showed that Sachin had 10 hours of sleep but he woke up twice in between. Based on that, I decided that today maybe a good day to push him physically. We went for a walk after Sachin had his breakfast. When we returned, he worked on his puzzle.
Then we did some brisk walking under our pergola. We did that for 10 minutes. Sachin had a break after that. Then he continued with the puzzle. I did not try another brisk walk as he seemed tired. |
