12 to 4:30p
Sachin started his working on his puzzle while I setup his next activity. When I was ready, I had Sachin help me put together a tallboy. He mainly screwed in the screws. When we finished building, we went for a walk. After that, he continued with the puzzle.

11 to 4pm
Sachin used a rake to help me spread the soil after some excavation we had in our yard. He basically copied me but I don’t think he understood the concept of levelling. However he was good at reducing the piles of soil. He also helped me in rocks and rubbish from the soil but he wasn’t too keen on this task. We didn’t go for a walk as we both had enough exercise today. Sachin finished his day using his Ipad. feedback The idea here is to help Sachin be involved in the process of developing his work area and home. 1 to 5:30pm
Sachin made some coasters(part) today. He only needed supervision and refilling glue in the bowl. After a break, we went for our usual walk. When we returned, Sachin started a new jigsaw puzzle. 1:30 to 6pm
Sachin continued painting the gate today. He needs lesser directions now. After a break, we went for a walk. When we returned, Sachin helped in moving and stacking pavings. He finished his day using his Ipad. 12:30 to 5pm
Sachin continued to help me to move and stack pavings.Today, He didn’t need much directions to get started. He remembered his role from yesterday. When he started getting tired, we took a tea break. Then after the break, we continued. He is very good at stacking things nicely. We should further explore this ability. Such activities give a strong indication that Sachin could be part of the work force except he would someone to watch over him. Once again, no walking today-had enough exercise. After another break, Sachin worked on his puzzle. 12 to 4:30pm
Today, Sachin helped me move and stack pavings. This was a job that I needed done and so it provided a good opportunity to get Sachin to do some hard labour. Initially, he didn’t seem happy to be doing this kind of work but my insistence got him eventually into the task. His job was to take the paving from me and stack it against a wall. I did the first row and then Sachin continued stacking. Sometimes I had to give him directions, especially when a row was full but soon he knew what was required. He was very particular on aligning the pavings properly and so he did a better job than I. Then we had a long break as we both were tired and hence no walking today. After our break, Sachin used the Ipad for recreation. 1 to 5:30pm
Sachin made some coasters today. He seemed very happy to be making them as it has been a while. He continued without much help. After a break, we went for our walk. When we returned, he continued with the jigsaw puzzle. 1:30 to 6pm
Sachin did some tile cutting today. He helped in marking the tiles then used a tile cutter to cut the tiles. He needs to apply enough strength to score the tiles. I had plenty of tiles left from old jobs and so there was no issue of wastage. He seemed to enjoy doing the job as he smiled often. Then we went for our walk. When we returned, Sachin used his drill for unscrewing screws that I had screwed to a cupboard earlier. He still has a problem of aligning the driver bit on the screw grooves. He then started a new jigsaw puzzle. 12:30 to 5pm
Sachin continued using his 6v cordless drill today. He experimented, mainly screwing and and unscrewing. He still has a problem with aligning the bit on the screw groove. He will improve with time. Then we went for our walk but today, a different route. He enjoys looking at different houses When we returned, He used his drill for a while and then he used his Ipad. 1 to 5:30pm
Today, Sachin opened his 6v cordless drill. He was fascinated with it, especially the packaging. I showed him how to insert the (Phillips) bit into the chuck. For a while, he explored the inserting and ejecting various bits and also noting the different types bits in the set (hopefully). Then I showed him how to put the drill on the charger. After that I showed him how use the switch for the various operations (clockwise, anti-clockwise and off ). Then I gave him an old desktop computer and got him to unscrew all the bolts. I aligned the bit head on the screw and then got Sachin to press on the trigger. When I let him do it on his own, he had trouble getting the bit into the groove. With time, I believe that he will understand that it is a just a screwdriver that has power. He does use the screwdriver fairly well. Another problem is that he doesn’t use enough strength to hold the drill. Anyway, we spent the whole day screwing and unscrewing with our usual walk in between. He does seem happy when using the drill. Perhaps, he just sees it as a new toy. |
